  2. Jonathan Abekasis Says:

It says Judah has kindled a fire inside the Lord’s anger that burns forever not that the Lord’s anger burns forever.

Two different temptations, Abraham was not tempted with evil because the Lord even puts a stop to temptation of evil if it is overbearing. The Lord was trying Abraham to see if he would turn away seeing that the Lord ordered him to do wickedness. Abraham’s response is what makes him a prophet.

Faith without works is nothing simple as that. Can’t have one without the other.

Jacob said that I have seen the Lord face to face and my life has been preserved. The Lord made almost everything punishable by death even little things but it doesn’t mean he will. No man has seen God at any time except those who are of God John 6:46.

God does and doesn’t take delight in burned offerings it all depends on if commandments are being followed.

God created evil. God is not evil.

Living things were created on the same day then says all other living things were formed so people would not be alone.

Those that journeyed with Saul heard a voice but not the voice that spoke to Saul. They were all spoked to but each man heard different.

The Earth lives forever but will also be burned. God says he will create a new Earth and new heaven replacing them that passed away. There will always be an Earth and a heaven.

No man has ascended into heaven that did not first descend from heaven. Elijah descended from heaven only to return to his duty. Behold I send you Elijah.

The Lord finds the iniquity of fathers into the third and fourth generations because they hate The Lord. The children out of their own choosing follow their fathers iniquity but if they turn away they will not be punished because of their father’s.

The Lord is weary to bear holy feasts of sinful men then says what he hide his eyes from their prayers unless they learn to do right. The Lord covers his eyes in order to not be weary in witnessing their evilness.

1.1 million that drew the sword 800k were valiant men.

Word for word except thousand replaced hundred.

The price was 50 shekels of silver or 600 shekels of gold.

The chief captain lifted up his spear against 800 slew 300.

Both made fun of Jesus but one thief stopped to rebuke the other.

Not sure Luke is vague and seems to be only one, Mark gives the name of a blind man but doesn’t say there was only one, Matthew refers to there being two.

My guess the angel descended and sat on the stone(one angel sitting) Mary ran and told Peter and John and when she returned and looked inside saw two men standing (Peter and John with shining clothes) plus two angels sitting.

Mary Magdalene and other women saw Jesus missing but Magdalene is special because she talks to Jesus while those other women might not have.

Yes not following commandments is punishable by death.

Yes riches given from God is a blessing. Yes riches not from God but from your own taking will end up as a curse.

I thought they gave to the poor. If they gave to themselves then what is the point of selling in the first place they would have divided what they had.

How could they know the temple was in Jerusalem probably hundred of miles away because they brought Jesus to Herod’s jurisdiction. Might be wrong though.

The word soldiers is used vaguely most likely Pilate’s soldiers brought Jesus to Herod’s soldiers. This is my guess.

Matthew sounds like after but really saying what happened before and in the morning when the disciples saw it they were amazed.

No removing the sodomites out of the land is not the same as removing homosexuals.

One was when he was born and the other when Jesus was a kid. Not sure what the contradiction is.

They found it open because the angel had rolled it away. You should ask who saw the angel open it then. The soldiers did.

Judas did not purchase the field two different people.

If I am wrong somewhere that’s ok because both is okay.

  3. Jonathan Abekasis Says:

The guts bursting I think was prophecy of Judas more than action. Sorry I said the wrong thing earlier.

  8. John Steven Grissom Says:

The bible is full of “Double speak= COMMUNICATION BYPASS. The Bible declares that, it cannot be understood by the “Carnal man” and also says, in another text) “That god is no respector of persons” Acts 10:34-35 Romans 2:11 malachi 3:6. Hence, a real problem! (to me anyway) Either the Bible can be understood by EVERYONE or it CANNOT be. IF, it CANNOT be understood by EVERYONE then the Bible is only for SPECIFIC people, (the elect? the chosen? the few the proud?) which, seems a little unfair? (to me anyway). If the one scripture in the Bible, that DECLARES, “it CANNOT be understood by carnal man” 1 corinthians 2:14 (living man)… by this ghostly being, which IS a spirit, (according to the bible)called by the bible by the name of, “god” specifically…. then, i think it contradicts itself… like in plenty of places. Please dont just say the “standard spin answer” that the bible does not contradict. actually answer, and explain my question referencing the scriptures i have listed. Ideas? Comments? John Steven Grissom stevegtexas@aol.com Fort Worth, TEXAS Bible belt USA.

  9. John Steven Grissom Says:

of course i believe in a spirit god. The question is MOOT. ;) -

  10. john steven grissom Says:

My question of the day: In the beginning of the bible (2011 american bible) Adam and eve were hiding (because they were afraid… genesis 3:10) the “spirit god” John 4:24 God is a spirit) in the cool of the morning was calling out to them (assuming he knew where they were (because god doesnt lie??numbers 23:19) psalm 139 1:4,) he asked the question…..”where art thou?” Genesis 3:9. was it that god was just, “testing” them (their intentions seem to be that they did not want to be found, which is why they, “hid…..”(A. were they TEMPTED to NOT answer god, (or they THOUGHT that god 1. knew where they were, and was just “TESTING” them (not tempting them, because the bible says god doesnt tempt. (james 1:13) he must have known that by putting the magickal tree in the garden MIGHT cause a problem later…..but just did it to, “Test?” not actually tempt them into sin right? Stevegtexas@aol.com John steven grissom

  11. John Steven Grissom Says:

I heard the answer, i suppose. the “spirit god” (john 4:24) of the bible put the magickal tree in the garden and asked all those questions to adam and eve so they would have a choice or, “free will.” That is (as i understand) how they were able to have, “free will”. “Do what thou wilt yet, harm ye none?” The choice is mine? comments suggestions? stevegtexas@aol.com

  12. John Steven Grissom Says:

So, wait…. the spirit god of the bible gave us a, “choice” beginning in the garden of Eden, to, Obey him, do as he said and not eat the tree of life (tree of knowledge…. why he put it there still confuses me) or, disobey him, giving us free will to do as we want? Does this idea make sense? (in reply to a website i looked up called, “why god put the tree in the garden??”.)

  13. john steven grissom Says:

Lets do a study on MOTIVE: “what came first, Satan or the tree of good n evil?”
Place these four in chronological order: Adam and Eve? Satan? Tree of life? Sin entering the world?

  14. john steven grissom Says:

was the serpent in the garden really, satan?

  15. John Steven Grissom Says:

Maybe the garden story proved gods real love for humanity…. the spirit god in the garden most likely spoke into adams ear and said, “adam” that snake you created in the garden is going to tell your new wife to eat that fruit…. go ahead and do it…. and you will be able to live happy ever after???” just a wild guess.

  16. John Steven Grissom Says:

…..continued….. before Eve ate the fruit in the garden (extra biblical answers of course, purely speculative conjecture) Adam said, “how is your credit honey, im short on cash? Mine kinda sucks, i mean, i havent really established a credit line which is probably why that snake came to you first to get you to bite on that fruit.” Eve looked at Adam and said, “My credits clear, if we get that Texas boot in our hiney, we can always go elsewhere away from here since 2 of 3 credit agencies are in Texas anyway, maybe one day i’ll have the knowledge as to why that is…. Maybe we could go to Wisconsin….? “i hear they have lots of cows there and lots of milk and honey. shhhhhhh….. he whispered, “I see that snake is still in the tree above us watching our every move”. Eve showed adam the painting of the snake with them standing below that was leaning against the base of the tree……”that ol snake has been waiting there for what seems like an eternity…. do you know who painted this beautiful painting of us anyway? And what year is it?” She smiled at adam as she brushed away her long flowing hair from her eyes. I told you that i would have the guts to do it before you Adam! she said as she took a small bite. “It just took me awhile to get the courage…. “Yeah……” he sighed and looked around lazily as the wind blew through the trees with the sound of birds chirping all around. “You know” he whispered…… looking around rather coyly. “With all of these animals here in the garden making all of this ruckus…. ya gotta wonder if that ol spirit god who has been around since the ancient of days will even be able to hear us without having his hearing aid in as i try some of that fruit.” he said as he also took a small bite. “I switched off my global positioning device. Is your cell phone off?” “Yes” she replied as she switched it back on and set it to vibrate while she reached for the fruit and did eat some more. “mmmmmmmm” tastes like a Michigan delicious apple, she said as her eyes were opened with amazing knowledge. “are you serious?” he said motioning for her to give him some more. Together they both enjoyed that fruit together there in the garden…. Adam reached back for at least one more fruit on his way to grab fig leafs for the both of them for the rest of that wonderful early morning, enjoying thoroughly the cool of the day…. as the snake watched them walk away, it thought to itself, “without man in the garden, my only real danger now might be the opossum.” :)

I’m a Christian. I thought the game show was funny.
I especially liked the bit with the punishments for all those things.
    DEATH DEATH DEATH
    Hilarious.

To John Steven Grissom I could say something about the power of metaphor or allegory.
I could try to suggest that the Bible was written by many different authors over hundreds of years, and that much of it was written years after the events by people who wanted to record the stories of their faith.
I might point out the themes running through the Bible which are startlingly consistent.
I could suggest that not all Christians read it, as you do, taking every word Literally.

Instead I’ll give you a rude, but funny answer the Minister at my church once quoted in a sermon about the imagery in the New Testament.

“People who can’t understand books written for grownups shouldn’t talk about them.”

I wish I knew who said it and I hope, that if you see this, you see the funny side- but given that you’ve just ranted for 9 posts I guess you probably wont.

First off, I find religion fasinating since I did not come from a practicing family of any sort. I did incorporate values through lifes experiences (asthma, unexpected surgeries, and many things one has to live though and a loving family with sucessful parents.)

I’m studying the oldest texts both from the oldest testaments (dead sea scrolls, XVI, Codex) and new testament that was just discovered and dated 1600 years ago in Greek. http://www.codexsinaiticus.com

Though we really don’t know a lot about the time period, we can discover so much in our lives with a humble postive open outlook.

The bibles are full of contractions..that’s ok… the main purpose is to live a moral
life by ones own views. I read and sometimes find truth and things that I can apply to my life.

Jesus:”Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus answered them, “The kindom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, nor will they say, “Look here it is.” ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” Luke 17:19-26 codexsinaiticus, english standard

26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

See so I Believe that ‘days of Noah’ hard times coming, shall be the day that we “find ourselves though a self struggle, like after 1929.”

first of all, this is NOT my web site….. although it is an interesting website full of interesting stuff. I didnt do the part of the gameshow, but admittably it is very clever, and offers some great debate! Here is my bible question/JOKE of the Day…. think about it real hard and tell me what you think: What would Eve had said to Adam after she had her first baby? Remember now, this is not true, it is speculative but there is an interesting principle behind it: “Arent you glad that i ate the fruit….. i was able to reproduce without you having to lose any more of your ribs.” interesting thought. John Steven Grissom- fort worth texas Stevegtexas@aol.com (by the way, i am on Sodahead.com…… .we have some really great debates on there all the time!

  20. Ryann Says:

The truth is there are no contradictions in the Bible. I used to think there were but as I thought it through (with the help of my Church leaders) I realized that I was simply not understanding it correctly. God tests us to bring about a change for the better in the end. The difference is this if God was testing us He would be sitting on our shoulders (cartoon devil) saying, “Go ahead, go ahead do it, do it. Sin, sin sin!” But that’s not how it is. Tests in school are there you take it and if you are supplied with all the information needed so the outcome is on you. If you fail this test you did not prepare yourself correctly and this hurts you but you learn that you need to prepare yourself for the next test that is coming. But if you Ace it does this not help your grade? I’m no religious leader, in fact I don’t understand it all myself. For those of you that are looking at the Bible searching to criticize every word it has to say, you are missing it. And, whether you want them or not, I am praying that one day you will look with an open mind and an open heart at what God has to say to you. For the others of you (for example John Steven Grissom) it seems to me that you are truely searching for the message of My Father and Lord. I pray that you learn about the Lord and realize that He is worth it. I’m not here to tell you that the Path is always going to be sunshine and daiseys in fact it rarely will be. Skeptics will be there to trip you up. But in the end it will all be so much more than worth it. Once I met the Lord, MY HEART WAS AND FOREVERLY WILL BE FULFILLED!

  21. dog Says:

Ryann, is that what your leaders told you? It’s not that the Bible has errors and contradictions because it is a collection of books written long ago by many different human beings with different agendas, living at different times. It’s just that you’re too stupid to understand. What arrogance! Don’t you realize how convenient it is to tell anyone who questions something that they don’t understand and that they must believe? I truly and honestly wish I didn’t have to say this, but the one thing your religious leaders got right is that you’re the fool. Shame on them for taking advantage of it and of others like you!

  22. Chris Berry Says:

The existence of God is irrelevent.

The world we see, the world we live in, would remain completely unchanged with or without the existence of any deity. What does it matter whether God did it or Science did it?

These questions are an ever revolving, ever more wastful, arguement. I’d much rather learn *how* phenomenon occur and *how* to replicate said phenomenon.

Does it really matter *who* made your lunch?
Wouldn’t you rather know *how* to make it yourself?
Religion, and faith, are simply the misguided who have decided *where* lunch comes from (without bothering to look around first).

  23. Phil Says:

    Chris Berry,

I have to say that I find your thinking here very flawed. These questions are not ever revolving, nor wasteful in the slightest.

“learning *how* phenomenon occur and *how* to replicate said phenomenon” is, in part, exactly what science is all about! It matters greatly if you apply whether something is made from a Deity or through natural phenomenon.

Religion focuses on “who made the lunch” and how you should worship the chef. Science tries to find out not just “who”, or more accurately “what”, but also “why” and “how”

You answer your own question in the same post.

Why does it matter whether God did it or Science did it?

Because Religion and faith tell their followers exactly who did what and how their god did it all “without bothering to look around first” and are often “misguided”.

This is a very dangerous thing on a social level. Because these people are trying to teach their beliefs as fact, even if said beliefs contradict the real facts. This is how you get things like the Creation Museum or the people that push for “creation science” or “intelligent Design” to be taught as a science class in public schools; Or anti-gay rights figureheads that say repeatedly that “homosexuality is a choice and unnatural.”

Also what a faith says about how one should live their life is often something that sooner or later a believer tries to force on his/her community by one way or another regardless of how things really should be and could easily gain a following. Examples of this can be found all throughout history… that people shouldn’t bathe for example… history teaches us the real importance of cleanliness.

So it is very important to have these arguments. They help us to discover that we are not at the center of the universe in fact there is no center of the universe and it is ever expanding, our world is a sphere of sorts and not flat, the sun does not revolve around us but rather we revolve around the sun, we evolved from australopithecine not by being suddenly created as we are now since the beginning.. the list goes on and on… hope that helps explain why we keep questioning even if the question may sound extraneous.

  24. john steven grissom Says:

My newest study has been on “pre-destination” and you guessed it: “free Will”. (which incidentally is a great song by the band, RUSH. if…….. we are already predestinated, can our “free will” really be ours? I doubt it, if we are truly, “pre-destinated”. Unfortunately, that means in the hands of an angry god, who originally only created, “hell” for other purposes….. he can “sizzle” us. A scary thought for such an interesting book! Hopefully god of the bible himself has learned or, “admitted” to be a “progressive” lord………. otherwise, when he bible says he, “will not leave nor forsake us” he too…. MUST visit everywhere that we go! (according to what the bible says anyway……….)

  25. Andrew.B Says:

As someone who was a Christian, I took care in examining all of my beliefs and why I believed it. That questioning brought me to believe that if the christian god exists, and if he were a man, the crimes that he commited on us were far worse than even genocide. A fully knowing god, contented with the fact that he has allowed Evil in the world, and being revered as all good, would be a despicable creature.

  26. john steven grissom Says:

“For god so loved the world that…….” why did ‘god” wait to bring Jesus into the world…..after…. the flood. A little bible trivia question for some great and fun debate! stevegtexas@aol.com (steve in fort worth texas USA). 2012.
