Jesus and the Short-Term Memory Loss
I have always wondered how can anyone read the Bible and not get a headache from all the errors and contradictions, let alone still believe in Christianity (or Judaism for that matter).
And it’s not just about different books in the Bible contradicting each other. Take a look at the story of Jesus and the Short-Term Memory Loss, for example. You’ll find it in the Gospel according to John, but I’ve put together a quick comic to save you the trouble.
(Read about how I found out about this story below)
Stocked up with a little packet of pain-killer tablets, I’ve just started reading biblical scholar Bart D. Ehrman’s latest book called Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don’t Know About Them).
As you may know, Bart D. Ehrman was a passionate and committed Evangelical Christian who began to lose his faith while studying the original Greek and Hebrew Bible texts at Princeton Teological Seminary.
Anyway, I’m still only on the first chapter, and thoroughly enjoying it. No sign of any headaches yet! I guess that Prof. Ehrman’s easy writing style and the sheer funniness of it all has mitigated the expected negative effects.

You’d probably be better off if you just took the whole bottle of pills
Contrary to what many believe, Atheists love life. Anyway, it was only a small packet and wouldn’t have killed me – maybe just enough to make me start seeing visions of Jesus or, better still, the Virgin Mary.
Actually, not so virgin anymore….
Ya’ll sadden me. You all call any Christian a BIBLE THUMPER… have ZERO tolerance for our beliefs, yet sit here CONSTANTLY and make jokes that actually are offensive. I respect YOUR VIEWS? I do not BELIEVE WHAT YOU DO BUT..If you do not choose to believe, hey that does not mean I will not witness or tell you my beliefs. But it does mean that I will still sit here and listen to YOURS. But the one difference is, I do not go around MAKING WEBPAGES SLAMMING all the holes in the athiests beliefs, and making a mockery of what they chose to believe in. And you say Christians have blinders on? REALLY? LMAO …. I never thought athiests don’t love life. But the one thing I am seeing they DO NOT DO.. is have any respect, nor tolerance to even listen to anothers beliefs, without taking pills, making stupid websites, and going out of their way to laugh because OTHERS CHOSE TO HAVE FAITH AND FOLLOW CHRIST. I think your lack of being able to believe in a GOD is simply cuz that would threaten you (ALL non believers), because most humans ESP MEN have one hell of a hard time thinking ANYTHING IS HIGHER than they are. And I think YOU ARE WRONG. But dang… would you not be offended if I continually made light and mockery of the fact I think it is pretty funny you all are going to burn in HELL constantly? I bet you would… however is neither here or there, so keep on making fun of me and my faith. Because it has nothing to do with God or religion. I would never do that regardless.. because I have MORALS AND CARE HOW MY ACTIONS EFFECT OTHERS AND HE WORLD AROUND ME. … so with that. .. enjoy your pills, and your stay in the eternal pits of Hell.
Carrie, Thomas Jefferson once wrote when discussing the idea of the Trinity that, “Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions.”
I hasten to add that ridicule is also the only weapon that can be used against untestable, and hence unfalsifiable, claims like religious beliefs when rational arguments are not accepted. In an ideal world, you would use your reason and understand that an untestable religious belief cannot be taken as fact, just like you don’t take Santa Claus as or the Tooth Fairy as a fact. Wherever reason runs into a hard-headed wall and fails to persuade, ridicule is all that’s left.
But rest assured that just about any atheist would much rather be able to reason with religious people, than have to resort to ridicule. Unfortunately, we are often left with no choice.
You have a logical point, but how can anyone talk about this when Alabama is covered in crude oil!?

u fucker don’t mess with GOD. Instead FEAR him.
i wonder how many non believers have actualy taken time to read the bible cover to cover? if any of you have, did you pay perticular attention of what hell will be like? do any of us (believers and non believers alike) really comprehend eternity? ask yourselves before you lay down to sleep every night, what if the bible is right? what if its right and i die in my sleep? what would it have hurt me to at least read the bible and tried to live by it? if you are a non believer there is no punishment for believing, why not at least try it? worst case scenerio you wasted some time. best case, you dont burn for eternity. just remember….WHAT IF? may God bless us all.
dont fear God, listen to him. try to understand him and his hopes and aspirations for us all. love God as he loves us and there is no need to fear him. its kinda like being best friends with the biggest kid in school.
